Few properties in New Zealand combine world-class wine, luxury hospitality, architectural distinction, and coastal beauty as seamlessly as Elephant Hill.
Located on the Te Awanga coastline in Hawke's Bay and framed by panoramic views across vineyards, rolling countryside, and the Pacific Ocean towards Cape Kidnappers, Elephant Hill has spent more than two decades building a reputation as one of the region's most respected wine brands and visitor experiences.
Established in 2003 by Roger and Reydan Weiss, the estate has evolved into a multifaceted business encompassing premium wine production, hospitality, luxury accommodation, events, and tourism.

Expressions of interest are now being sought for the Elephant Hill assets which include the winery, cellar door, restaurant, luxury lodge, vineyards, business assets, intellectual property, and wine inventory.
Available either as a going concern or as individual assets, the offering provides exceptional flexibility for purchasers seeking exposure to one or more segments of the wine, tourism, hospitality, or property sectors.
Colliers has been exclusively appointed to market the assets for sale via expressions of interest.
Colliers is not providing any price guidance for the assets and is encouraging interested parties to submit their best offers through the expressions of interest process.
At the heart of the estate is the architecturally striking winery and hospitality complex at Te Awanga.
Designed to integrate winemaking, visitor experiences, and commercial operations, the building has become a recognised landmark within Hawke's Bay's wine landscape.
Alongside the winery sits a highly regarded restaurant and cellar door, while event facilities capable of hosting up to 110 guests further reinforce the property's reputation as a destination in its own right.
The estate's vineyard holdings, which include 24.03 planted hectares at Te Awanga, 17.61ha at Gimblett Gravels, and 17.27ha at Bridge Pa, supply a wine portfolio that has earned both domestic and international acclaim.
Hadley Brown, Director of Rural at Colliers Hawke’s Bay, says the opportunity extends well beyond wine.
“What makes Elephant Hill particularly compelling is its ability to support a variety of future visions.
"For one purchaser, it may represent the continuation and expansion of an established premium winery.
"For another, it could become a luxury tourism destination that builds on the region's growing international profile,” Brown says.
“Others may see the potential to further develop the hospitality offering, expand accommodation experiences, grow the events business, establish a high-end retreat, or create an agritourism enterprise that leverages the property's unique coastal location and existing brand recognition.”
The inclusion of Elephant Hill Lodge further enhances those possibilities.
Set on a separate 12ha title, the architecturally designed lodge offers luxury accommodation with expansive living spaces, premium amenities, and multiple guest suites.
Equally suited to exclusive guest stays, corporate retreats, weddings, or private events, the property provides a platform for future owners to diversify revenue streams and broaden the guest experience.
Mike Laven, Rural & Agribusiness Special Projects Advisor at Colliers, says the Elephant Hill brand is expected to attract interest from wine companies seeking to add a super-premium label to an existing portfolio.
“The Elephant Hill brand and associated wine business do not need to remain tied to the Te Awanga property.
"The intellectual property, wine inventory, and brand assets can continue to operate under separate ownership and from an alternative production facility, creating flexibility for purchasers seeking to acquire either the premium wine brand, the underlying property assets, or both.”
Brown believes the portfolio's flexibility is expected to resonate with a wide range of domestic and international buyers.
“Rarely do assets of this quality come to market, combining an architecturally significant coastal property, established hospitality and events infrastructure, luxury accommodation, and a recognised super-premium brand.
"Whether retained as a winery or repositioned for alternative uses, the estate offers a platform that would be difficult to replicate.”
