After four years with Colliers, James Botica has stepped into a brokerage role in the West Auckland team.

Having begun his career with the business as a Research Assistant in 2022 while completing a Bachelor of Property and Bachelor of Commerce conjoint at the University of Auckland, he later moved into a full-time Executive Assistant role in West Auckland, which he has held for the past three years.

He will now draw on his local market knowledge as he transitions into brokerage and will largely focus on West Auckland’s industrial sector.

“My time as a Research Assistant and Executive Assistant provided a strong understanding of the commercial property market, supported by hands-on experience in research, reporting, and supporting transactions. Working closely with the Brokers helped me develop strong organisational, communication, and analytical skills,” Botica says.

In moving into brokerage, Botica says he was drawn to the opportunity to work more closely with clients.

“I’m excited to apply the experience I’ve gained to build relationships, continue learning, and contribute to strong outcomes for clients and the wider Colliers team.”

Progressing within the business was an obvious choice.

“I’ve seen the emphasis placed on developing people and supporting career progression internally which made Colliers the natural choice for this transition.

“As a business Colliers stands out for its collaborative culture, strong market presence, and depth of expertise.”

West Auckland has some of the city’s largest industrial precincts and continues to experience sustained growth.

With industrial vacancy near historic lows and increased demand across the Auckland region there are ample opportunities as businesses look to expand their footprint to align with population growth.

The Colliers West Auckland team was established in 2016 and provides a range of sales and leasing services across West Auckland under the guidance of General Manager Nelson Raines.

“James has a strong work ethic and a sound understanding of the local market through his time working as a Team Assistant and we look forward to watching his career develop in brokerage,” Raines says.

“His transition reflects the team’s ongoing commitment to fostering emerging talent and strengthening Colliers’ presence across the West Auckland market.”

In 2025 the West Auckland team brokered a record-setting 81 sale and lease transactions. With improving economic conditions on the horizon and strong market fundamentals in place, the team looks forward to building upon this momentum in 2026.
