After gaining valuable experience as a Team Assistant, Sam Murphy has moved into a brokerage role in the Colliers West Auckland team, specialising in industrial sales and leasing.
Murphy joined the business in 2024 and learned the intricacies of the West Auckland commercial property market working under Nelson Raines, General Manager at Colliers West Auckland, and Director of Investment Sales Caroline Cornish.
His passion for real estate began while he was working as an assistant property manager during his gap year before beginning his university studies.
He then gained an array of sales experience working as a sales representative for prominent national brands while completing his Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Otago.

Murphy says this experience cemented his desire to venture into commercial real estate.
“I was heavily drawn towards the people aspect of the industry and my prior sales experience sparked a passion for relationship building and negotiation,” Murphy says.
“The experienced Brokers in the Colliers West Auckland team have exposed me to many different aspects of sales and leasing and they continue to be highly supportive of my professional development.”
Murphy will be working closely with Raines and industrial specialist Luke McGill, both of whom have extensive local knowledge.
Raines says the team is excited to welcome Murphy into brokerage after his exceptional service as a Team Assistant.
“Sam came aboard and clicked with the team right away. His energy, people skills, and market knowledge will put him in a great position to thrive in brokerage,” Raines says.
The Colliers office in West Auckland was established in 2016 and its team of experienced property professionals bring a broad range of sales and leasing expertise.
In recent years the team has transacted major deals that have shaped the wider area, including considerable amounts of industrial development land which has seen strong demand from purchasers looking to invest in an emerging location.
The West Auckland commercial property market continues to be a fertile space, with developers and occupiers recognising the growth potential of the area.
“The wider West Auckland area has benefitted from major transport projects across the past decade and the arrival of high-profile retailers such as Costco have further enhanced its appeal,” Raines says.
“Westgate in particular has become one of Auckland’s key metropolitan centres and the Western Ring Route provides excellent connectivity to other parts of the city.
“Occupiers are actively seeking opportunities and we have experienced strong demand so far this year, with an array of transactions already under the belt.”
