For the owners of this stylish and spacious Westgate home, it was their expanding family that prompted the search for something bigger and more convenient.
“Our son was a newborn and we’d previously been in a townhouse, which didn’t work so well with the little guy,” one of them shares.
“We found this place, which was still being built, but we went and had a look and could see how great the layout was. It’s all very open-plan and easy, with all the living on the ground floor and bedrooms upstairs.”
A lengthy crossover between their old and new houses during Auckland’s 2020 lockdowns meant they were extra grateful to move into their beautiful, brand-new home in 2021.

“As it was right in the thick of Covid times, having the separate, sunny office downstairs was also perfect for working from home,” she says.

A collection of modern must-haves elevate the home even further and include built-in speakers, an intercom, alarm system, heat pump, bonus laundry storage, the luxury of gas hot water and a cat door.
The owner also shares how fantastic this neighbourhood and wider area are for people with children.
“There is a local park and new playground with lots of walkways and there is often an ice cream truck parked there. You always see little kids on bikes around the development.
“We’re really close to Westgate and Northwest Mall and the Goode Brothers pub is really family-friendly. The area really does have everything you need shopping-wise, including Costco and a big new Asian supermarket.
“In the other direction, Kumeu and Riverhead have lots of breweries and wineries, as well as Riverhead Forest.”
Maria Santayana, from @Realty, says this is a big, beautiful and affordable family home.

“It’s beautifully decorated and has a really nice feel. We’re getting young couples coming through, as well as people with kids and those who have extended family members living with them.”
She also says there are lots of benefits to buying an existing home in the area.
“You’re getting your window coverings and it’s a little more established – plus you can already see who your neighbours are. That laneway also enjoys nice privacy as it’s not a thoroughfare and it’s not floody.”
Santayana also says this well-connected area has become a hub and haven for families.
“There is a new primary school being built on Dunlop Road and due to open 2026. That is going to be a real drawcard. You’ve got the Riverhead Forest for mountain biking and horse riding and the West Coast Beaches, as well as the rugby club up the road in Massey and some rugby grounds on Fred Taylor Drive. There is heaps to do.
“Albany is 20 minutes or less and going to the city is also easy, about 20 something minutes’ drive away.”
