MrBeast’s secluded New Zealand base in Te Awamutu is looking for a buyer with $2.699 million after passing in at auction today.
The world’s biggest YouTube star – and arguably the world’s most popular entertainer – rented the five-bedroom manor during a visit to New Zealand in 2024.
The lifestyle property at 325 Candy Road is “set among rolling countryside and framed by mountain views” and boasts two gyms, a tennis court, an outdoor swimming pool, and a half basketball hoop.
It was brought to auction by Bayleys agents Angela Finnigan and Amy Van Den Broek with an RV of just under $3m.

Bayleys auctioneer Stephen Shale passed the property in at auction after no bidders came forward. An asking price of $2.699m was then put on the property.
Shale told the auction room that there were "people here with houses to sell that would like to be in the queue".
OneRoof profiled the property last month and talked to the owners Phil and Carla Turner. They told OneRoof they ran the retreat as a high-end Airbnb, hosting lots of international guests, including several well-known sports stars. However, MrBeast’s fame was on another level.
Phil told OneRoof they were in Portugal when they received a mysterious request to rent their home.

“My wife and I had moved to Portugal, and we decided to Airbnb out the house. We’ve had many international visitors. We’ve had NFL players in, people from all parts of the world,” he said.
“MrBeast reached out to us, although we didn’t know it was him at the time. We had a mysterious guest send us an email saying they had seen our property and were interested in renting out the house for three weeks for a project. They couldn’t tell us what it was for, what it was about or anything.”
Phil said the couple had to sign an NDA. “We checked that out with our lawyers just to make sure. It was only while he was here because he didn’t want people to find out where he was living because of his status, you know, with the celebrity side.
“Also, the security team had to come and check out the property because they’d seen on Google Maps aerial views that there was road access next to the house. But that’s actually a road for the cows that go up to the cowshed next door.

“They just checked everything out, and he ended up flying in and doing a project in the Waitomo Caves. He was spotted around Hamilton, giving out money and running a competition.
“They pretty much flew in, did what they did, and then flew out, and they left behind power tools, they left behind equipment, a full fridge, and brand‑new clothing that they’d obviously bought here in New Zealand and then just flew to Sydney.”
MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, has nearly 500 million subscribers on his YouTube channel and has been dubbed “the Mozart of the attention economy”. The US-based entertainer is known for his grand stunts and his philanthropy, and is said to be worth US$2.6 billion.

During his time in Waikato in 2024, MrBeast filmed his clip “7 Days Stranded In A Cave”, which involved a stint in the Waitomo Caves. Reports said he gave US$50,000 (about NZ$80,000) to a local cave guide at the end of the stunt.
The cash he carried was one of the reasons the security team checked out the Turner home before renting it. “He was known to always carry lots of cash around with him for giveaways and handouts, just randomly to people in shopping centres and supermarkets. So, his security team was fully onto that. He always had a security team member here on site,” Phil told OneRoof.
The Turners had other high‑profile guests during their time away, including NFL players who were visiting Hamilton. “Our house was the only one big enough to accommodate all their family. And they were big boys. I was a bit worried that they might break all my furniture, but it did work out. They were lovely.”
Phil said the couple were selling now that their children had flown the nest. He said the property would be sold with the dining table and bathtub, both of which were craned in before the roof was put on the home when it was built.
The couple run a string of funeral homes under the Simply Funerals banner. They own five funeral homes and a crematorium and are about to open Te Awamutu Funeral Services, Phil told OneRoof.
