An architectural retreat in a private oasis, this striking Hauora Country Estate residence offers the perfect balance of seclusion and convenience – just 10 minutes from Silverdale.

For car enthusiast and solar specialist Dwayne Cocker, and his loyal spoodle Basil, it’s been the ultimate haven. With a three-bay lock-up garage, two-bay covered carport and sweeping rural vistas framed by native bush, the property combines practicality with peace and privacy.

“It’s been an incredible place to recharge – and not just the solar kind. I love entertaining too, and this place has been perfect for both,” laughs Dwayne.

Since moving into 97 Hauora Lane, Waitoki in 2020, Dwayne has added thoughtful upgrades – installing solar panels, upgrading lighting, carpeting the garage, and heating the pool. Behind the carport, there’s a gravel area for washing vehicles and parking for up to 10 cars – ideal when hosting gatherings, something Dwayne does often.

“We haven’t done any major renovations because we just haven’t needed to. The pool wasn’t heated when we bought the place, but it was pre-wired for it, so we added a heat pump. I keep it at 30 degrees from Labour Weekend through to Easter,” he says.

Built to an exceptionally high specification by meticulous builders, the home features double-glazed joinery and what Dwayne calls “insane insulation”.

North-facing and wonderfully warm, it’s a property that performs as beautifully as it looks. To make the most of the sun, Dwayne installed sleek black solar panels on the garage roof. They blend seamlessly into the architecture while powering the house, pool, and garage.

“They’re so low-profile you barely notice them, even as you come down the driveway,” he says.

Strong geometric lines and enduring materials define the home’s contemporary design. The glass entryway opens to a striking concrete feature wall – cool to the touch yet visually warm – offset by a crisp white wall illuminated by directional gallery lighting.

From here, the hallway flows into sunlit living spaces that feel both expansive and intimate. Oak timber floors with a rustic sawn finish complement the home’s clean lines and high-stud ceilings, creating a sense of lightness and scale.

At the heart of the home, the kitchen anchors the space with a generous island and full-height picture windows that draw the surrounding landscape indoors.

The connection to nature continues outside, where a large louvred deck extends the living area into the open air. An outdoor kitchen and barbecue invite gatherings overlooking the sculpted pool and spa terrace below.

Set within Hauora Country Estate, a private gated community, the property is surrounded by covenanted native bush and lush plantings that attract kererū and tūī. It’s a setting that ensures lasting privacy and uninterrupted views of farmland, forest, and the solar-heated pool.

The home has three bedrooms, each with its own ensuite. The third bedroom is a large studio with a kitchenette that can be configured for multiple applications including as a home office.

As for favourite spots, Dwayne has a few.

“At sundown, I love sitting on the deck with a beer overlooking the valley. But in the morning, I’ll sit outside my bedroom with a coffee and listen to the birds,” he says.

His ultimate go-to is the outdoor dining area just off the kitchen, where huge ranch sliders open to an alfresco entertaining zone complete with barbecue, bar fridge, and electric louvres overhead.

“It’s my favourite spot – we’ve had so many amazing nights out there with friends and family. It’s private, peaceful, and you don’t have to worry about the music being too loud or too late.”

Luxury doesn’t need to shout, says Debs Wallace, of Cooper & Co Real Estate. “This seriously beautiful property does exist within nature and is ever present. I’m proud to represent my vendor and 97 Hauora Lane and look forward to meeting its very lucky new owner.”

97 Hauora Lane in Hauora Country Estate, Waitoki, Rodney, is for sale by auction on November 13.
