While she absolutely loves her chic, sunny, ground-floor garden apartment, Sue – the owner, who bought in this sought-after, dress circle location in 2018, is equally enthusiastic about the neighbourhood and the handy location.
Two other sets of owners in the block of three are reasonably recent arrivals, but Sue says they all became firm friends almost immediately, and she’s going to miss their company very much.
“And because there are just the three parties, we’ve managed to keep the body corporate side of things very simple too, so it runs really well.
“One couple have landscaped the back of the section – mostly with New Zealand native plants, and it’s so lovely sitting up there with a coffee or a glass of wine. It’s just like being on holiday, every day!”

She’s recently freshened up her apartment and because it was very well-built, using quality materials, regular maintenance has helped to keep it in top condition.
The casual living spaces are bright and relaxed and an attractive entertainers’ kitchen features quality Bosch appliances and loads of bench space, while a second lounge is more formal.
The bedrooms are generous, with the master enjoying its own elegant ensuite and access to the courtyard, while the main bathroom is also very attractive. Decor throughout the apartment is crisp and cool, with plenty of white and pleasant neutral colours, allowing residents to put their own, unique stamp on the property.

With a background in market gardening and a green thumb, Sue has tended her plants – including neat box hedging, very lovingly in the leafy, sheltered courtyard.
Overall, she says, the garden is easy-care with astroturf – meaning no need to mow.
“She says that she didn’t expect to find a significant amount of storage space in an apartment, but in fact she has masses in hallway cupboards and in the separate laundry.
Paul Neshausen has sold a number of properties in and around Goldie Street over the years and says that they always attract a lot of interest due to location.
“I always say that like Goldie paintings, the homes in Goldie Street are super rare and tightly held. This will be very appealing to downsizers, lock-and-leavers, retirees who appreciate the privacy and security plus the close proximity to everything St Heliers offers – and the fact that it’s nice and flat.”

Meanwhile, Sue is downsizing and hopes to move to a retirement establishment nearby.
“I have a couple of friends there already, and I’m looking forward to meeting lots of new people too. I’ll always miss this particular spot, though,” she says.
“The bowling club, the tennis club and petanque green are literally across the road and I can walk around to the shops and cafes very easily.”
She says she has been a keen swimmer and always enjoyed having the beach just a few steps away, plus easy access to public transport.
