Tony and Rebecca were ready to put in an offer straight away when they viewed 251 Kaipara Road in Ardmore, Papakura, six years ago.

Calling it their dream home, the property offers the best of both worlds – as Harcourts real estate agent Aalayya Waja puts it, “It’s lifestyle on the fringe of everything.”

Enjoying the benefits of a rural lifestyle with peace and quiet plus visits from native birds like kākā and moreporks, the couple and their five children have had plenty of space on the 1.235-acre section; swimming in the pool, setting up a slip ‘n’ slide in a sloping area of the garden and looking after chickens for fresh eggs.

Others in the neighbourhood care for sheep, goats and there’s even a peacock that occasionally pops over to say hello.

“We’ve got neighbours but no real immediate neighbours.

“It’s just so quiet and people that come to our property and stay with us they just go, ‘Wow, it’s so peaceful here’,” Tony says.

Tony appreciates that the property is still on town water – no fussing about with water tanks – and is in range for Uber Eats, a necessity throughout past lockdowns.

The master bedroom includes an ensuite, walk-in wardrobe and Juliet balcony.

The open-plan living and dining areas open up to the outdoor entertainment area, complete with a heated in-ground pool, ideal for al fresco dining and get-togethers.

“It’s a great property for hosting barbecues and parties. It’s just perfect for entertaining.”

With elevated views over Manukau Harbour, both Tony and Aalayya rave about the sunsets that shine through the covenanted bush into the living spaces.

“The sunsets are absolutely amazing, just breathtaking,” Tony says.

Aalayya herself calls Kaipara Road home and, naturally, labels it the best street to live on in Auckland.

She likes that it’s in zone for the lovely local primary school and values the community feel.

“I love the area. Friendly, helpful neighbours and everybody looks out for one another. If you go away, they’ll feed your chickens for you.”

When it comes to getting out and about, Tony and his family love visiting Clevedon or heading to the beaches in the nearby bays.

For their shopping needs, Botany Town Centre is their destination of choice while the motorway is easily accessible for any trips farther afield.

“There are plenty of good cafes and things to do around the area as well, whether it’s going to one of the strawberry farms or out to the Clevedon Market on Sunday,” he says.

Tony and Rebecca are sad to be selling as they look to purchase property closer to family in the Bay of Plenty.
