The five-bedroom home, which was designed by award-winning architects Sumich Chaplin and built by Lindesay Construction, was snapped up by New Zealand buyers at the start of the month.
Precision agent Andrew Dorreen, who brokered the deal, declined to reveal the sale price but said it was a record for Takapuna Beach.
The previous beachfront record was $15.7m, set last year by a French-style mansion on neighbouring Park Avenue (the suburb record is the $28.8m set in 2017 by a mansion on O’Neills Avenue).
“I can’t speak of the house sale other than the fact it has sold, and yes, it was a record-breaking sale,” he told OneRoof.

“It is a superb home, exquisitely designed and beautifully built by the very best. The buyer values all of these traits and was lucky to secure such a stunning home in the best location on the beach.”
The property, which has an RV of $9.75m, hit the market at the end of August.
Vendor Shaun (he asked to keep his surname private) and his wife told OneRoof last month that the design of their home was inspired by their time in the sun-kissed Californian village of La Jolla.
“We were trying to recreate the beautiful lifestyle we had there, here in Takapuna. That was the dream, and it took us ages to find the perfect site,” Shaun said.

Shaun and his wife enlisted Lawrence Sumich, of Sumich Chaplin, and Lindesay Construction to bring their vision to life in 2020. “Being able to work with Lawrence was so special for us – it was a really cool experience. We gave him the idea of what we wanted, and he recreated it from there,” Shaun said.
“We wanted it to look aesthetically beautiful, but as we’re also raising a young family, we also wanted it to feel like home – beachy and comfortable.”
He added: “A lot of the materials and textiles we’ve used aren’t just white – we’ve bought a lot of timber accents and detailing into the property, in the ceilings, master suite, and big, beautiful oak doors throughout.”
The key living, dining, and kitchen spaces flow out to the beachfront terrace, which wraps around both sides of the home, and a fully tiled, marble pool and spa.

The property also includes a boatshed, secure gated entry, a double internal garage, and additional off-street parking.
Shaun said the family was moving to another larger Sumich design in Takapuna to accommodate the needs of their growing family.
Dorreen has had a strong run of sales and listings this year. When Blomfield Spa hit the market, the agent told OneRoof that he had sold three waterfront properties for over $10m, and another two for around $8m.
He is still seeking a buyer for 23-27 Lake View Road, a 622sqm Daniel Marshall-designed home on nearly 3200sqm of land overlooking Lake Pupuke, and a five-bedroom property at 15 Lake View Road, which he sold only last year for $10m.
