Absolute waterfront apartments Jimmy’s Point have been designed to luxuriate in immediate harbour views from their extraordinary position at the tip of a peninsula in Launch Bay, Hobsonville Point.
Head of Vertical Living for developers Winton, James Burgess, says: “The brief to the architects, Isthmus, was to deliver on the promise of this serenely beautiful location, to continue to complement the Launch Bay community and the creation of a relaxed waterfront lifestyle.
“The master-planning of this area is key to these apartments. Jimmy’s Point is the jewel in the crown of Launch Bay. It sits out on its own on the corner of a promontory of land above the coastal walkway, with the Waitemata hooking around the site.
“The only adjoining properties are the Officer’s Houses, which are large single houses on large sites, and another standalone house to the south. So there’s no feeling of density around it and no chance of its beautiful views ever being built out in future.”

Burgess explains the name Jimmy’s Point stems from local lore about a fellow named Jimmy who years ago was known to regularly head out onto a little viewing platform on the point to fish.
About one third of the development’s 30 apartments have already sold off-the-plans, with all one-bedrooms residences purchased already.
The balance are premium two or three-bedroom apartments, which are priced from $1,147,000 and $2,507,500 respectively, with the crowning three-bedroom penthouse available to purchase for $3,527,500.

Construction by Kalmar Construction is advancing, with work currently underway on Level One of the building’s four levels. Jimmy’s Point is utilising the same contractors who delivered the neighbourhood’s Ovation and award-winning Marlborough apartments.
The Launch Bay precinct centres around a historic grassed central oval which played its part in the area’s historic air base.
Jimmy’s Point residences will enjoy their own shared gardens in the northeast corner of their site, incorporating a pétanque court and barbecue platform.
Burgess says: “And the Oval’s green space, where there are regular community events, is effectively Jimmy’s Point’s backyard.”
The development’s ground floor apartments each have their own dedicated grounds ranging from around 50sqm to more than 200sqm. The building’s design and use of strong, natural materials references the surrounding coastal environment.
Historically Hobsonville used to be the site of a brickworks and the terracotta-finned facade reinterprets this in a contemporary way.

“Backed up by the world-class master-planning and amenities of the Hobsonville Point waterfront precinct, these apartments are attracting buyers from some of the most rarefied suburbs of Auckland.”
