The extras included in affordable new three-to-four bedroom completed homes Legendary Homes is selling in Karaka Village are numerous, just like the company’s Master Builder awards scrolling across their website.
Neither are necessarily what come to mind for a company building this size of home starting at $990,000.
Director of Legendary Homes CJ Chen says: “Our well-established company has been operating since 2013 and has built hundreds of houses in different parts of Auckland. We’re registered master builders and are very brand and reputation orientated, caring not just what people think of us now but in the future.
“We started out building quite high-end residential but as more funding was injected into the company could take on bigger scale projects, moving towards more entry-level residential. But we’ve continued to offer higher specifications, made possible in part by our buying power with high-quality suppliers.

“We don’t cut corners. By comparison, many of the companies who take shortcuts producing cheap homes won’t be around three years on, when the results of the low specifications in their houses really start being apparent.”
Their track record includes many homes in West Auckland and the North Shore and they’re excited to now be part of new development Karaka Village. It is a master-planned community which will eventually spread over 81 hectares, 20 hectares of which will be protected village greens, pocket parks, walkways and wetlands. It’s around 10 minutes’ drive from the motorway at Karaka.
It’s marketed as a rural village blended with its own modern amenities as it will eventually have its own village centre with shops, eateries and services and a pavilion for gatherings.
CJ says: “Karaka Village is going to be a bit of an oasis, a suburban community embracing the rural life by being a bit out of the way but still very accessible.”

Legendary Homes’ first release of five two-storey completed residences will all have four bedrooms with completed three bedroom homes available very soon.
CJ is relaxed about the fact these homes would be priced significantly higher in a booming market.
“Our bespoke home designs are subtly reminiscent of the shape of farm buildings, with steeply pitched rooves and exterior colours fitting with modern rural living.”
A typical home’s downstairs has a kitchen-living-dining opening out to a covered deck and landscaped grounds of around 200 to 250sqm, a powder room, tandem garage plus one covered parking spot. Upstairs three or four carpeted bedrooms, one ensuited, accompany a family bathroom.
CJ learnt about construction from the ground up as an apprentice builder and builder in New Zealand. These homes have vented air-conditioning throughout, 2.7-metre high ceilings enhancing spaciousness and upper level skylights.

Their stylish Espan roofing is about triple the cost of normal long-run. They feature Smeg kitchen appliances, Hans Grohe tapware and fully tiled bathrooms. They even have EV car chargers installed and potable rain water collection to reuse washing cars and watering plants.
Homes have a 10-year Master Build Guarantee and are constructed of stained cedar at the front with board-and-batten fibre cement on three sides. Legendary Homes has a promotion for a limited time aimed at instilling good maintenance habits. It offers three years free maintenance, covering house washing, gutter cleaning, changing air-conditioning filters and more.
Bayleys agents Jevin Chao and Matthew Haines say: “Karaka Village feels like a breath of fresh air, literally. Big skies, great schools, and even better builds from Legendary Homes. It’s where lifestyle and liveability finally shake hands.”
