Ready to move into, this brand-new penthouse sits atop Remuera’s impressive One Wairua building and offers home-sized proportions and a layout designed for discerning downsizers.

It has been developed by Countrywide Properties, whose impressive Eastern Bays C.V includes One Saint Stephens in Parnell, Karori in Orakei, Elm in Remuera and Outlook in Mission Bay.

Director Mike Sullivan shares, “We designed this for people who want to simplify without sacrificing the things that matter – space, quality, and a great outlook.

“The natural light is incredible up here – you get sun from morning to evening, which completely transforms the feel of the home.”

The 176sqm, single-level floor plan incorporates three bedrooms, two bathrooms and sunny, spacious social zones. It also comes with two carparks side by side and a storage locker in the secure basement parking.

Positioned high above the treetops on level four, this residence enjoys sweeping views across Wairua Reserve, down to Ellerslie Racecourse, and out toward Maungakiekie/One Tree Hill.

The level of finish and modern must-haves make the residence the ultimate in easy, secure, lock-and-leave living, says Caitlin Kastner, sales manager at Countrywide Properties.

“The penthouse is really nicely finished with natural stone and engineered oak floors. It’s also got plenty of storage, a large separate laundry and the kitchen has Gaggenau appliances and an extensive scullery with a second fridge/freezer.”

Indoor-outdoor flow is another key feature and comes in the form of a terrace and an enclosable outdoor room. This is protected by a remote-controlled, louvred roof and sliding door, which when opened allows for a lovely breeze through the living space.

“You catch a glimpse of the harbour and it’s flooded with afternoon and evening sun. It can be used all year round and it’s a great extension of the living.”

Location-wise, the neighbourhood also gets a big tick.

“Wairua is so close to everything and is less than five minutes’ drive from the Greenlane onramp. So when lock and leavers want to leave Auckland, they can just walk out the door.”

Wendy Fenning, from Bayleys, says that the boutique size of Wairua has proven very appealing for buyers.

“If people are averse to going into a development with 40-odd apartments, there are only 14 here. It’s quite special and beautifully private – no nosey neighbours.

“The view is amazing, you’re in Remuera and you get morning and afternoon sun, which is quite lovely for an apartment as you usually get one or the other.”

The pet-friendly penthouse works perfectly for those ready for more freedom and flexibility, but who aren’t quite ready for a retirement village.

“It’s such a great option for downsizers. We just sold one and the buyer said, ‘we’re too young to go to a retirement village, we love walking to the village’. However it would suit multiple buyers because of the style of it – it’s definitely big enough. There are some young professionals in there too.”

Proximity to local boutiques and eateries in both Remuera villages has been part of the appeal for buyers, as has the proximity to healthcare facilities.

“We’ve had a lot of people are coming in from places like Karaka and up North because they want to be closer to amenities.”

Countrywide’s reputation also speaks for itself.

“They’re known for award-winning developments One Saint Stephens and Elm and they do it so well – such high quality and with absolutely no corners cut.”
