An Auckland house linked to multi-millionaire property developer Chris Meehan has been sold for $14 million, property records show.
The Herne Bay property owned by Speargrass Holdings, the company controlled by Meehan, his wife Michaela and lawyer Jeremy Johnson, formally changed hands last week to a company called Greymouth Holdings.
The deal took place off-market. OneRoof understands that Wall Real Estate agency handled the sale.
The sprawling villa on Herne Bay Road was acquired by Speargrass Holdings in 2018 and has an RV of $6.8m.

OneRoof reached out to Meehan for comment. Wall Real Estate declined to comment on the sale.
According to QV records, which noted a market sale for $14m at the end of May this year, the 404sqm villa has five bedrooms, two bathrooms and sits on a 981sqm section.
At $14m, the sale price is among the highest for a non-waterfront home in Herne Bay. Last year, a villa on the same street got $15m, in a deal also brokered by Wall Real Estate.

Listing agents Graham and Ollie Wall told OneRoof at the time that there was a lot of interest in the five-bedroom home, which sold within a week of hitting the open market.
The top price in the suburb overall is $38m, which Bayleys agent Edward Pack got last year for rich-lister property developer Kurt Gibbons’ waterfront mansion on Marine Parade.
On the market in the same price bracket as Meehan’s villa is a luxury new-build at 15 Hamilton Road. The property, built by developer Simon Dunlop, features high-end craftsmanship, a pool, gym, sauna, and a Japanese-style courtyard and is listed with Bayleys agent Nick Gilbert.

The sale comes amid scrutiny of Meehan’s conduct at his development company, Winton Land. Earlier this month, he resigned as director of Winton, following a board exodus and allegations of harassment.
Meehan, who founded Winton and is its majority shareholder, resigned as chief executive and chairman in July after the company launched an investigation into his behaviour.
According to reports in Newsroom, Meehan has been accused of harassing staff members at his companies.
