Cooper joined Colliers in 1990 and has spent the past 15 years in his current role that has a strong focus on overseeing the brokerage teams, providing strategic direction for the business, and leading the client service experience.

Known affectionately as ‘Coops’, he began his time with the company as an industrial sales Broker and led negotiations on multiple high-profile deals in Auckland.
He later moved to Wellington to establish Colliers’ presence in the capital before returning to Auckland where he was a key figure in opening the company’s office in Highbrook that specialises in industrial sales and leasing.
“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at Colliers but feel like it’s the right time to go and take on some new ventures. I intend to have a brief sabbatical to start next year and spend some quality time with my family before I decide exactly what will come next, but I am definitely not retiring yet,” Cooper says.
“The most important thing I will take from my time at Colliers is the relationships I have built. I have made lifelong friendships within the industry and greatly enjoyed the camaraderie.”
Cooper says the sustained growth of Colliers during his time with the business is down to the extraordinary calibre of its people, brand, and culture.
“Colliers is incredibly well placed to capitalise on the improving economic conditions we are seeing across New Zealand and they have some outstanding leaders in the business who will drive its future growth.”
Gareth Fraser, CEO of Colliers New Zealand, says Cooper’s contribution to the business has been significant and he’s had a lasting impact on the career of many Colliers team members.
“What Coops has done for Colliers is incredible and we are grateful for his loyalty to the business, strategic thinking, and positive outlook that has been instrumental to the growth of our organisation,” Fraser says.
“Aside from the business achievements and market-leading deals, Coops is a huge driver of the strong culture we have at Colliers and has also provided extensive mentoring and coaching to people from across the company.”
Fraser says Colliers will announce the succession plan for Cooper shortly.
“We wish Coops all the best for the next phase of his career. He leaves a legacy of success at Colliers and his contribution to our business has helped us establish our presence as a leader in the New Zealand property market. He will always be a valued member of the Colliers family.”
