Owners Peter and Susan had lived in the general vicinity of Upland Road in Remuera for a number of years, and when they heard about new architecturally designed plans for the site at No 28, they were very keen to see what was on offer.
“By this stage we had boomerang adult children coming back home, and grandkids, so we looked at the developer’s ideas, and we liked them very much,” says Peter.
Luckily the project was in its early stages, so he and Susan were able to make certain changes to their 311sqm residence.
“We absolutely loved the bricks that were going to be used for the exterior; the look, the texture and the colour variation.”

He explains that they added a pool, extended the proposed decking, upgraded appliances and also removed a proposed wall in order to ensure an extensive, open-plan configuration for the light-filled main living zone.
The couple were also able to customise the ultra-luxurious Poliform walk-in wardrobes in the primary suite.
Boasting five bedrooms in total as well as three bathrooms, this is the perfect home for a family – with teenagers or perhaps elderly parents able to make use of the ground floor bedroom with its adjacent bathroom, as well as a large media room upstairs for chilling out and relaxing.
With a scullery just off the Matisse kitchen, plus an integrated bar area, separate laundry and loads of storage space all the requirements for contemporary living are very well catered for.

Peter says he was very impressed by the way in which the design makes excellent use of a relatively modest 379sqm section – especially once the pool was added, and the neatly landscaped property enjoys the advantage of having its own driveway.
Much as they’ve loved this special place, the couple eventually turned their attention to construction of their new home nearby – recreating many of the features that make 28 Upland Road stand out.
Peter believes that whoever buys it is guaranteed to have pleasant neighbours – including himself and Susan. “There’s a nice little community feeling here.”
Agent Gary Wallace says that he admires the couple’s good taste and their commitment to quality in this ultimate executive home. “It stands proud on Upland Road and everything about it is just 100% excellence.”

Zoned for Meadowbank School, Remuera Intermediate and desirable double grammar, it also enjoys easy access to the Upland Road and the Benson Road shops, Little Rangitoto Reserve and Orakei Basin.
“The feedback we’ve been hearing at open homes has been very positive indeed,” says Gary.
Details such as the double-glazing, a ducted air conditioning system for heating and cooling, underfloor heating in the bathrooms, and an internally accessed double garage, all add up to complete this rare opportunity in one of Auckland’s best-known suburbs.
