The fact that the majority of the 54 homes at Hobsonville’s Bay Views development are single level and standalone makes them stand out from the crowd, according to Harcourts salesperson Graham Lewis.

“You can’t find those for love nor money anywhere. Plus they’re an approximately 500m flat, straight walk to the local shops and supermarket,” he says.

The collection of freehold properties come in one, two, three and four-bedroom variations and have been designed as high quality, affordable options for first-home buyers, growing families and downsizers.

Twenty of the 54 have sold to date and Lewis says they have had buyers and interest from all over Auckland.

“We’ve heard from local people who have built in Hobsonville Point or Scott Point and no longer like their two and three flights of stairs, as well as people from the Shore and out as far as Helensville and Mount Albert. They’ve really come from all over.”

The picturesque pocket on Clark Road has an interesting back story and one that provides character and history to the lifestyle on offer.

The neighbourhood is anchored by Clark House, a Category 1 Historic Places Trust property. The landmark mansion hit the headlines at the end of 2022 when it was listed for sale. King Charles had just ascended the throne and, as head of state, was the de facto owner of all Crown real estate in New Zealand.

His connection to Clark House was highlighted by the listing agent, also Lewis, and went on to become OneRoof’s most viewed listing of the year. The 732sqm Italianate-style brick villa had been used by the Royal New Zealand Air Force from 1950 until 2016.

Now, it becomes the centrepiece of the land’s new incarnation as the owner and developer of Bay Views is currently restoring it into a high-end residential home, where he plans to live.

As for the new homes, enduring brick construction, stylish, light-filled interiors and private, landscaped outdoor areas make these effortless to live and entertain in.

Each floor plan variation will suit specific buyer requirements. These include one-bedroom, one bathroom; two-bedroom, one bathroom; three-bedroom, one-and-a-half bathroom; and slightly larger three and four-bedroom homes that have two-and-a-half bathrooms.

Each property has an EV external charging point and bike storage, and in terms of parking, Lewis says that a selection of the four-bedroom homes have garages built in, while others have off-street parking.

“We’ve also been able to independently put garages and carports on some of the others, depending on how much room there is onsite.”

He also notes that many of the sections get spectacular harbour views from their elevated position.

The site now is a hive of activity.

“Bulldozers are in there now and building is due to commence at the end of May. The first stage is due to be completed at the end of November – it’ll be built in three stages – end of November, end of December and end of February.”

The local area caters to buyers at all stages, with shops and supermarkets all within close proximity, as well as excellent local schools and motorway access.

Catherine Curley, branch manager at Harcourts Hobsonville and Greenhithe, says Bay Views is such a rare proposition for Hobsonville.

“You go through most of the Hobsonville homes and they’re the skinny townhouses – you actually feel like you can breathe in these ones. They have wide body design and are freestanding as well, which is also I think quite rare.”
