New Zealand-born Kerrie and her husband John were living in far north Queensland, searching for the perfect location in which to retire when they bought this property at 126 Goatley Road in Warkworth, Auckland in 2014.

It’s set on nearly two hectares of gently contoured land just north of Warkworth, set to deliver easy motorway access when the Puhoi-Warkworth motorway extension is completed next year.
Kerrie, who’d worked in graphic design and done interior design training, sees modern interpretation of a Tuscan residence in the architecturally designed 1999 masonry home.
It is already well on its way to being a sustainable growing oasis with vegetable gardens and orchard, complemented by the addition of a bore and a boutique varietal hobby vineyard.

An additional barn dwelling without council consent, separated from the main home, has operated as a two-bedroom rental.
As well as being a great place to entertain in, the property has delighted grandchildren.
One, aged nine, asked, “can you just wait till I’ve grown up to sell it?” But Kerrie says the time is right to downsize and move nearer to family in Whangaparoa.
