A new collection of contemporary townhouses – Saltwood – is bringing fresh buying opportunities to Red Beach on the Hibiscus Coast.
The three-bedroom and two-bathroom homes are an easy walk to the sand and surf while offering a comfortable and easy low-maintenance lifestyle that will accommodate a mix of buyers such as young families, empty-nesters or anyone looking for a lock-and-leave.
Developers Jalcon are proud of the Saltwood development which has been designed by multi-award winning architecture firm Architex and which Jalcon CEO Jacob Aitken says will stand the test of time.
“A lot of the detailing has gone into the development, whether that be internal or the external parts as well as the landscaping, even the stone walls to the outside. Those small details have been thought about to not only enhance livability, but to offer something different from other developments,” he says.

To date four townhouses in the 21-home development have been sold with an additional one under contract at the time this went to press. Options include road frontage or off-street as well as end units, each with a courtyard, and some have dual courtyards (east and west) that follow the sun.
All have single garaging and some have an additional carpark in front of the garage. The townhouses each enjoy an aspect of sun and while most of the three-bedders have two bathrooms, some have an additional downstairs powder room.
An open-plan layout is favoured for the living areas – lounge and dining room. The kitchen and laundry areas feature quality Samsung appliances, including a heat pump.
The design is clean and contemporary and offered in two tasteful colourways. Upstairs bedrooms feature wool carpet and ceiling fans; the master has an ensuite and some the addition of an outdoor balcony.
The development has also been beautifully landscaped and the green belt of foliage separating the townhouses is already quite well established.

The vision was to create privacy and the development’s own oasis with laneways and spaces to sit or play, says Jacob.
“We did some of the planting early on so that it had a good year-and-a-half to get established,” says Jacob.
“Where I thought the architect did well is that there’s these little walkways which break it up. Some have seating and over time, as families get to know each other, these will provide neat spaces for kids to interact.”
He says this is development that Jalcon will be proud to look back at.
“They all have a slightly different feel, are homely and an example of what good can look like.”

“The original developer approached us in the early days of design to come and build it so the initial vision wasn’t 100% us but when the development fell over, we thought it was a great opportunity to get it going again and we are very happy with the outcome,” says Jacob.
The only change Jalcon made to the original design was converting eight of the two-bedroom townhouses into three-bedroom homes by adding an extra bedroom above the garage.
A big part of the appeal of Saltwood is also the Red Beach location which has a beachy and community vibe. The local shops, including Four Square, are just 100m away. Saltwood is also close to a children’s playground, pump park and football pitch, and of course the beach.
“Saltwood is a refreshing reminder that new homes can still have personality,” says Ray White agent Olivia Upton.
