Husband-and-wife team Stan and Angela Sickler have joined Colliers Taupō as Rural Sales Advisors bringing their substantial expertise to the rural and lifestyle markets.

Before moving into rural real estate, the pair’s farming journey spanned multiple decades built on shared goals and a strong work ethic that made them a formidable duo.

After purchasing their first herd together in 1989, they spent time sharemilking as they worked towards owning their own farm. They did that in 1999 when they purchased a sheep and beef farm in Waikite Valley.

While raising their family on the farm, Angela also completed a Bachelor of Nursing in 2000 and provided hands-on support whenever it was needed.

In 2016, the couple sold the farm and Stan moved into selling rural real estate and has transacted more than $200 million worth of property.

Meanwhile, after spending more than 20 years in nursing, Angela joined the real estate sector too and has focused on selling lifestyle properties for the past few years.

The next step in their property journey has brought them to Colliers, where Stan will cover Taupō and surrounding areas such as Waikite Valley, Ātiamuri, the Western Bays, and Tirohanga, with a focus on large-scale farms, drawing on his extensive background in the rural sector.

Angela will continue her work in the lifestyle property market.

Stan says while they work in different areas of the rural property sector, he and Angela share plenty of things in common when it comes to achieving client outcomes.

“We get a real joy out of helping people and seeing them take the next step in their lives, whether that’s a sharemilker getting into their first farm or someone downsizing from a farm to a lifestyle property at the other end,” he says.

“We complement each other really well and have different skill sets that allow us to succeed in our own way.

"I don’t mind a tough conversation that will lead to a positive outcome, while Angela has a natural empathy that puts people at ease.

"But above all, we get great enjoyment from dealing with good people and building strong relationships with our clients.

“I know we are both really motivated to succeed and we are looking forward to this new challenge.”

The couple are based in Kinloch and Angela says joining Colliers is an exciting move for them.

“We have been really impressed with the team at Colliers, and their international reach was something that really stood out for us,” she says.

“Having offices in over 60 countries around the world opens up considerable possibilities to a large buyer pool and we know there are further collaboration opportunities across that global network.

“The lifestyle property market represents a huge area for potential growth in Taup? given the appeal of the town and all that it has to offer.”

Darren van Deventer, General Manager of Commercial and Rural at Colliers Hawke’s Bay, says having the Sicklers join the business will provide huge reach for Colliers across Taupō and the surrounding area.

“From my first meeting with Stan and Angela, I was highly impressed and knew they would be an excellent fit with the Colliers culture because above all else they are good people. They have excellent communication skills and work hard to build meaningful connections with their clients,” he says.

“They have an exemplary track record across the rural and lifestyle markets, and we are confident they will elevate our presence across Taupō. We are excited to see what they will achieve under the Colliers banner.”
