It presents as a comfortable suburban executive home, popped on top of a city high rise and the owner of this three-bedroom CBD penthouse apartment has seen huge changes taking place all around her, since purchasing the property around 25 years ago.

Parklane on leafy Greys Avenue was built in the 1920s and refurbished in the 1990s whilst retaining a historic facade.

The fifth-floor penthouse at 5D/68 Greys Avenue in Auckland Central offers sensational city views through extra-large windows, and those vistas are even better from the expansive balcony, where the owner has enjoyed many pleasant morning coffees.

Two further bedrooms and a bathroom lie on the upper level along with a home office.

The decor throughout is pleasant and neutral allowing new owners to put their own unique stamp on the property.

As more people have taken up residence in the CBD, new restaurants and cafes have flourished with dining sectors in K Rd, which has recently been rejuvenated.

“It’s so easy to get there via Myers Park where steps take you straight into St Kevin’s Arcade,” the owner says.

Diane Jackson of Bayleys, Remuera says this is a very rare opportunity – perhaps for retirees who are downsizing to a lock-up-and-leave property, but still want to keep their furniture and she agrees it could be a great family home.

“It would work quite well because being on two levels, there’s nice separation.”

Jackson, who is marketing the property with colleague Julie Quinton, says that Parklane apartments are tightly-held and rarely come to market, so buyers need to be quick.

5D/68 Greys Avenue in Auckland Central will be sold at auction on December 9.
