Potential buyers looking for a dress circle position on beautiful Waiheke Island will be very excited to discover this rare opportunity on Waikare Road, just moments from the bustling village with views over picturesque Oneroa Bay.
“This street is fast becoming the Paritai Drive of the island,” says Matthew Smith, of Ray White, who is marketing the property with Shelley Dewar.
“We’ve already seen some amazing examples of people taking older baches down in this blue-chip location and rebuilding them completely, which is certainly a possibility here. You could easily buy this property for a great price and then spend another $5 million on it and still not over-capitalise.”
The vendors purchased their special home on its giant 1510sqm site in 2016 and say that it was been the scene of happy family life and many celebratory occasions, with plenty of space for guests.

The living is easy and relaxed, with large open spaces including a semi-open plan kitchen, dining and living area which opens out to extensive decking.
Also on the ground floor, a large wing with three generous bedrooms is served by an attractive modern bathroom. Two bedrooms have sea views while the other opens to the breezy courtyard. Upstairs is the master bedroom, complete with ensuite and a fabulous vista.
A double tandem garage with a huge rear workshop completes the picture – and provides plenty of room for storing a Sealegs and other water toys, especially as the local boat ramp is right nearby. There is also off-street parking.
The owner agrees with agent Smith that position is everything. The street is quiet, and the section is sheltered from the wind and the convenience of being able to walk to the village for a drink, a meal or a browse in the local boutiques simply cannot be overstated.
What’s more, the Matiatia ferry is just five-minutes’ drive, making this a convenient spot for regular commuting – or for weekend and holiday use.

“We rented this property for a few years before we actually bought it, so it was already clear that it worked well for a young family,” says the owner. “It’s really been like living the dream – every day seems like a holiday.”
She says that the home still feels like a genuine Kiwi bach that’s undergone various changes over the years, including the upgrades it’s had recently – including a modernised family bathroom.
“It’s so nice and quiet, tucked away so all you can hear is the waves on the beach – there’s hardly even any traffic, yet you’re so close to town.”
Now that she’s heading in a new direction, the owner knows it’s most likely that the section at 14 Waikare Road will be redeveloped but she doesn’t mind, and she says that the neighbourhood is extremely friendly and welcoming.
“The nearby coastal walkways have always been ideal for walking our family dogs,” she adds.
Smith adds that there is easy walkway access to the beach at either end of the street, which is a huge added bonus.
