As we move into another year, eyes are set to stay glued to the housing market, especially in desirable high-end places such as Omaha where price records are broken with increasing regularity.
Aware that strong demand for ultra-luxurious permanent or holiday homes isn’t remotely close to being met, Beau and Nicki Edwards from Edwards Builders in Warkworth, set out to create the ultimate one-back, beachside residence leaving no expense spared and the result at 14 Ida Way, says Beau, is incredibly pleasing.
“We started at the beginning of 2021 and it’s fair to say it wasn’t the easiest year for a project like this one, with Covid-19 lockdowns and a shortage of materials, but we’ve finally made it.”

The 285sqm, north-facing home, which sits at Omaha’s northern point, one street back from the waterfront, has been carefully conceived to take advantage of its premiere position, with two levels of luxury living.
An impressive entry foyer with a soaring ceiling and statement lighting leads to fun for all the family, with a games or media room, two large bedrooms plus a self-contained guest suite which includes an enormous walk-in wardrobe.
The laundry and a family bathroom also lie on this level along with an internal access double garage and workshop, behind which is a trailer or jet-ski park.
Meanwhile, on the top floor, a huge, breezy open-plan, dining and living area has been designed with entertainment in mind.

Also in this space, keen cooks will revel in the sophisticated kitchen with its seemingly endless granite benchtop, and Miele appliances. “Nicki and I took a great deal of care to make the kitchen absolutely perfect,” Beau says.
The master suite, also on this floor is the very height of indulgence with an external staircase leading to a private garden, full of leafy subtropical plants. Outdoor living on the upper level consists of giant wraparound north and west-facing decking and a covered loggia with an automated louvre roof and the piece de resistance, a stunning, fully-equipped, outdoor kitchen.
Downstairs and outside, yet more extensive sun-soaked decking provides numerous spots for relaxation and there is plenty of lawn for children and pets to frolic on.

Victoria Turner from Bayleys, Omaha Beach, is quick to pay tribute to all of Beau and Nicki’s hard work.
“This is a simply sensational home,” she says. “It has one of the most impressive chattels lists I’ve ever seen, and everything is incredibly high-quality.”
She expects this property to be especially appealing right now, as the building industry struggles to access materials – making construction rather challenging.

“Here, all the hard work has been done and you can walk in and feel right at home.”
Enquiries are already coming from Kiwis looking to invest in coastal property and Turner says the fact that Omaha lies in the Auckland region means people can move between here and the city – even if further lockdowns occur.
14 Ida Way in Omaha, Auckland will be sold at auction on January 19.
