A waterfront property in Auckland’s Point Chevalier is aiming for one of the suburb’s top prices when it sells.
The four-bedroom house on a double waterfront section at 34 Harbour View Road is expected to sell for well above its $6.7m RV.
The property is already pulling American interest, New Zealand Sotheby’s International Realty agent Aaron Holmes told OneRoof.
He and colleague Aaron Reid are pitching the waterfront spread to international buyers, and enquiries since the property went live were “absolutely off the hook".

“We just released a video of the property on YouTube, and I had one guy hit me up last weekend, so it was really, really fast.”
He had four groups through the house on the first day, even though the agents are only holding appointment viewings instead of open homes.
Holmes said the property was unlikely to beat the suburb’s record price, set three years ago when Oscar-winner Taika Waititi and his pop star wife Rita Ora splashed $10.5m for a stylish cliff-top home. However, that sale had raised the profile of Point Chevalier for high-end buyers.
“People just want to have that Point Chev lifestyle and see the value in Point Chevalier. It’s a real down-to-earth lifestyle, with the cafes and the beach and all the people that make up the Point Chev community.”

He added: “34 Harbour View Road is on an absolutely huge section, one of the biggest on that stretch of coastline. My gut feel is that the people who buy the house will absolutely love it when they get there,” he said.
The current owners, Rebecca and Ant, have owned the property for just over 20 years, and are selling up now that their kids have flown the nest. They first bought the house next door in 2002 before snapping up number 34 in 2006 when they feared the site would be turned into flats.
“The neighbourhood is entrenched families that have been here a long time,” Ant told OneRoof.
He added: “People kind of freak out when they come in because the front is a very normal Point Chev property, and then once you come past that then it blows out into a really kind of pristine place."

They carried out a substantial renovation in 2013, adding a master suite and another bathroom. The biggest changes were the new floor-to-ceiling sliding doors and decks that opened the house to the garden and to the harbour. Their final move was adding a swimming pool and cabana/guest house.
The food-loving couple love the eight-metre stainless steel kitchen island and the scullery. There's a library for Ant, and there are plenty of spaces for kids and friends to spread out.
"You can have 12 people around for dinner at the outside table with the lights of the cabana and the pool and the sea in the distance. It is pretty magical. Close your eyes, and you imagine somewhere in Spain,” Ant said.

Views across the expansive back lawn to the water are framed by mature pōhutukawa and nīkau palms. Two stairways descend to a sheltered beach, while decks and viewing platforms tucked through the bush create a series of scenic lookouts along the way. The landscaping was designed by family friend Xanthe White.
“We really wanted not to lose the great Kiwi backyard aspect of it,” Ant said.
The place comes into its own at sunset, he said, watching the sun go down over the Waitakere Ranges or fishing off a dinghy or paddleboard. “We’ve seen Orca go past, and dolphins in the harbour.”
