Ray White Remuera listing agent Simon Siddells told OneRoof that the owners of 2A Crescent Road, in Auckland's Parnell, had poured a lot of love into their luxury build but were now reluctantly selling, having moved overseas permanently.
The family, who are from the Middle East, had lived at 2a Crescent Road for only about a year, added Siddells, who is marketing the property with colleagues Zaf and Keri Yildiz and Dianne Maxwell.

“She came out in 2002 and then went overseas later on in the 2000s, met her husband and brought him back here," the agent told OneRoof.
“He fell in love with New Zealand, and so they decided they wanted a place here. They hunted high and low for something and kept increasing their budget, but finally they decided they needed to build something to incorporate all of their cultural desires.
“They are very multicultural and loved bringing in the different aesthetics.”

The couple hired architect Marshall Cook to design their home, which was completed in 2014 and overlooks Hobson Bay and the boatsheds.
The architect was briefed that the couple wanted a strong New Zealand feel while also incorporating their own culture, as well as having an international quality and design personality.
“They absolutely loved Marshall Cook. He brought in all of the design elements that they wanted, and it all just flows seamlessly,” Siddells said.
The couple wanted complete privacy from the street, but with a hint of what was inside, so they built a two-metre Israeli stone wall, which Siddells describes as gorgeous and unique.

Their overall design includes Israeli stone, natural schist from Queenstown, garden features and an outdoor sitting area with pergola, and furniture from different parts of the world that incorporates a mix of British and French influences.
There are eight-metre entrance ceilings, bronze features throughout, Arabic mashrabiya designs and a water feature.
Siddells said the secondary kitchen was almost like a catering kitchen, and praised the “enormous” living room and views from the master bedroom.
“The view is spectacular from the master bedroom. The windows concertina open, and it looks down towards Hobson Bay.”
Siddells said the property had attracted a lot of interest, including from AIP visa investors, but mostly from Kiwis who lived locally and Australians.
The agents' listing describes the property as a masterpiece above Hobson Bay, “occupying a magnificent ridgeline position in one of Parnell’s most private and prestigious enclaves”.
The house is 477sqm of “luxurious living” on a 1272sqm landholding.
“Every finish has been carefully selected and flawlessly executed, from the solid oak joinery crafted with traditional precision to the imported stone sourced from the hills of Israel.”
The property has a guest suite and a self-contained studio adjoining the triple-car garage.
