The property, which has an RV of $2.29 million, was built more than 20 years ago by a Kiwi bloke for his Japanese wife.
He couldn't realise her dream of a life in Italy, so he brought a slice of Italy to her instead, and commissioned a five-bedroom, four-bathroom home with terracotta roof tiles, curved windows, and multiple balconies and columns on 2.14ha of farmland in Temple View.

The couple sold their dream home at 170 Foster Road in 2007 to the current owners, who are now selling up as they head off to enjoy their retirement.
They have been running the mansion as a boutique bed and breakfast for several years, and are hoping someone will love the property as much as they have.
Harcourts listing agent Sandra Treloar said 170 Foster Road was a standout property and had stunning 360-degree views of the countryside.

The property was popular with visitors from all over the world, she said, adding that Chinese tour groups had booked out all the rooms in the main house until early next year.
“The owners live downstairs and have guests stay in the upper two levels.”
The property also comes with four cabins and is currently accommodating the cast of the musical Cats, she said.

Those guests looking for a taste of the Waikato countryside were greeted by alpacas and miniature horses that were also kept on the 2.14ha property.
Treloar said the unique property was generating a lot of interest from a wide range of buyers. She had been fielding interest from doctors, Americans, large multi-cultural families, and other people looking to run a business from it.
The property is being sold as a going concern.
