The picturesque lakeside village of Kinloch, located 15 minutes west of Taupō, is set to be buoyed by significant commercial and economic activity through a new development in the heart of the village.
The former Trev Terry Marine site is currently under construction where local investor Henry Hall is creating ‘The Village, Kinloch’.
The development, sitting at 140 Kenrigg Road, is set to have three main buildings and will incorporate a mix of services and amenities.
Construction is progressing smoothly, and the centre is set to open before Christmas, ahead of the busy summer season.

“We have listened intently to the community who see the need for a village centre that offers a considered selection of goods and services,” Hall says.
“We are currently under construction and when all of the building activity is completed, we will be able to house a grocery store, cafe, liquor store, specialty foods, and commercial services.”
Colliers has been appointed to lease the development and Richard James, National Director of Retail at Colliers, says there has been strong interest with leasing well advanced on a number of tenancies.
“It is incredibly exciting having the opportunity to be part of a new development that will completely reshape a community and give them a new commercial precinct they can be proud of,” James says.
“Our focus is currently on identifying our flagship grocery operator and this represents the chance to be the village grocer and become immersed in the community.
“The successful candidate will need to be proven in the grocery game, and we want the offering to match the expectations of the community. The future grocery operator can lease space that is purpose-designed for a store of up to 500sq m.
“The vision is not simply to create another supermarket, but a modern village grocery offering that reflects Kinloch's unique lifestyle and community.”
Kinloch is famed for its lakeside appeal for holidaymakers, but multiple housing developments have emerged over the past decade, which has contributed to consistent growth of the resident population.
There is ongoing activity in the area with fishing and boating serving as popular pastimes, alongside access to mountain biking tracks and golf tourism, making this a true lifestyle destination.
Kinloch is home to The Kinloch Club, New Zealand’s only Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course that is a must-visit destination for serious and casual golfers.
The development of the project is being managed by Colliers Project Leaders and has been designed to incorporate Kinloch’s lakeside aesthetic.
James says the finished development will include covered walkways and accessible pedestrian connections intended to accommodate a wide range of visitors to the precinct.
“The built environment will be quite exceptional, and we will be delivering a year-round offering for the locals to have their needs met.
"It will also have sufficient scale to capture the ballooning population of the busy summer months, as well as the seasonal tourism influxes.”
James is leasing The Village, Kinloch alongside colleague Alice Gray, Senior Leasing Executive at Colliers, who says the grocery provider will be well supported by a complementary tenancy mix.
“The Village will have an outstanding hospitality offering with an inviting food and beverage selection that will meet a range of tastes,” Gray says.
“This carefully curated development is set to become the commercial focal point of Kinloch, serving as the hub for the local community and its visitors, and we look forward to seeing it come to life.”
