Gabby and Logan planned to put down enduring roots when they bought this St Heliers residence with a distinct presence and the grand sizing to accommodate a growing family.

Designed by Adrian Robinson, the 569sqm home’s exterior of limewashed stucco over solid block on 1945sqm grounds evokes a Mediterranean or contemporary Spanish Mission ambience.

Gabby says: “We were looking for a home which would provide separation and space for growing teenagers, so the amount of space was really important to us.”

With six bedrooms, a study and multiple living spaces this home is easily able to accommodate a family, guests, all types of entertaining and may suit an extended family.

Logan says: “The scale of it is really impressive. When owners have upgraded it in the past they’ve focussed on quality and doing things properly, such as importing the clay roof tiles from the Mediterranean and sourcing lighting from ECC.”

The couple had a 20m swimming pool designed which they planned to install knowing their son and two daughters would love it. But their pattern of normal family life has changed drastically since moving here, given the girls changed school and commenced frequent water polo training, while their son often trains for competitive swimming.

All of this is on the other side of town. So, to reduce the amount of time everyone is spending in the car, they plan to move closer to the girls’ school and these activities. Gabby says: “If we could pick up this incredible, versatile property and move it across Auckland, we would.”

The beach and St Heliers Village are less than 10 minutes’ stroll away from this address and a lot of families with children at Saint Kentigern College in Pakuranga live locally.

The fully fenced property is wonderfully peaceful and private, situated up a long, gated driveway. Once you see the home you can appreciate the scale of its two-level floor plan, and the aspects making it seem timeless, such as the patina achieved by the limestone paint, and the clay roof tiles.

Its impressive portico-style entrance accompanies plentiful open-air parking and a triple garaging from which you can walk undercover and inside. The spacious entry foyer with feature staircase is high impact. Logan says: “The outside is impressive and so is the inside.”

Living spaces take up most of this level with easy indoor-outdoor flow out to a wide sun-baked northern patio alongside ample flat lawn for children’s play. A separate formal lounge and formal dining room accompany the family-kitchen-dining room with well-thought-out entertainers’ kitchen.

The rumpus or games room with pool table is a magnet for more informal gatherings and has a sauna off it, great for after training sessions. Two bedrooms, one ensuite with a walk-in wardrobe and one with a neighbouring powder room, an office and a separate laundry round out this level.

Upstairs a balcony opens off the spacious ensuite primary suite with walk-in wardrobe and one of the three other bedrooms. Apart from the primary suite, upstairs bedrooms (one with its own dressing room), are served by the family bathroom and additional powder rooms.

It’s easy to envisage another family making this their own enduring home.

Ray White agent Richard Thode says: “This is an extraordinary family home of significant scale, able to suit a family over many years. It offers family members their own spaces and offering exceptional value.”
