There is a lot of property for sale right now, but which listing suits you best? OneRoof’s Buyers’ Club series brings you the best in New Zealand real estate, from affordable starter homes to luxury mansions. We’ll highlight a range of homes from around the country that are worth your attention.
Most Kiwis would agree that a house with a tennis court is a sign the owner has made it in life. Having an outdoor swimming pool is one thing, but being able to enjoy a rally or two with friends and family in your own backyard is another level of luxury.
With fans gearing up for the French Open and Wimbledon just around the corner, we’ve served up five homes with tennis courts. The prices may surprise. Yes, there are the multimillion-dollar mansions, but we've found some homes selling for less than $1m.

5 Hinemoa Street, Birkenhead, Auckland | Price by negotiation
Another extraordinary offering on Auckland’s North Shore. This 2167sqm waterfront property for sale at 3-5 Hinemoa Street has a features list that reads like a Barbie Dream House: two houses, eight bedrooms, eight bathrooms, three kitchens, an office, a games room, an indoor heated pool and spa, a solarium, a wine cellar/gym, a home cinema and an inviting tennis court.
Premium Real Estate listing agent Trish Love says the property is in a league of its own. “I wouldn’t have thought there would be many properties where your only complaint might be that you lose your tennis ball into the sea.”

“The other cool thing about it is you’ve got a tunnel that connects the main house to the secondary house. You go down three levels and through the media room, then through this beautiful tiled hallway with the wine cellar and bathroom, then you come up some steps, and you’re in the new house. You’ve actually gone under the tennis court," she tells OneRoof.
“As you get the two houses, it’s great if somebody has got extended family, and it would also make an amazing wedding venue. It’s two minutes to the ferry and has an incredible view right out over the city and harbour.”
As for price expectations? “We’re looking for $20 million.”
