Huapai Copy & Print has become a well-known business in its community, having operated for an impressive 38 years — the past 24 from its current location at 312 Main Rd, Huapai.
Owners Brian and Joan Hale have appointed Jason Alexander of Link Business Brokers to bring this oportunity to the market.
Being in such a tight-knit community gives the business a real buzz.
“It almost feels like the customers belong to one big, happy, extended family. It is such a joy being in the shop and listening to how the customers and the staff interact,” Alexander says.

The business offers a wide range of services from basic copying and printing to more intricate needs such as design and typesetting. Products for sale include a great range of papers and card, inkjet and toner cartridges, and selected stationery items.
“A stand-out feature of the shop is the two generously proportioned internal offices, which can be used for services such as accounting, insurance, legal or brokering,” Alexander says.
“The new owner could sub-lease the space or possibly a business partner could work out of the offices while the other partner runs the Huapai Copy & Print business.
“The icing on top of the cake is the Helensville Community News which was launched by the owners in December 2009 and will be sold as part of the business,” says Alexander.
It's a free newsletter with a large array of advertisers in each issue. It comes with articles and images that community members contribute every month.
This newsletter is also made available online on the Helensville Community News website. “It’s such a great connection to the community and, of course, to the business’s customers,” says Alexander.
“This business will appeal to a wide range of buyers given the many different avenues available to them, from having the two internal offices and a news publication as well as being a solid copy and print operation. The longevity of the business will also give a potential buyer peace of mind,” says Alexander.
Hale says: “The new owner can potentially grow this business by expanding into graphic design services, greater promotion of wide-format printing and printing on canvas, printing on T-shirts, mugs, etc, web design, online services, and computer and printer sales and servicing to name a few.”
The Hales are headed for retirement and are ready to hand over the reins.
“We care deeply about the customers of Huapai Copy & Print and would like its legacy to live on. To ensure that the business continues to deliver a high level of service without any interruption, I am available for a careful and in-depth handover of the business for up to two months.
“I will also be available for ongoing support here and there if necessary, based on an arrangement with the new owner,” Hale adds.
With revenues in the last financial year of around $195,000 and returning profits to one working owner of approximately $63,000, this business is priced to sell at $130,000 (plus stock of approximately $8000).
