The stylish three-bedroom property at 18B Mainston Road, in Auckland's Remuera, was snapped up by the vendors 15 years ago for just over $1m and is now heading to auction.
The Vettoris had transformed the property, adding a new kitchen, laundry and bathrooms, before shifting to neighbouring St Heliers.
Owner Tracy told OneRoof the house had been a "special sanctuary" for her and her children over the last decade and a half.
She said she had barely changed a thing since buying the property, apart from a slight tweak to the downstairs bathroom.

Her daughter Annelyse said her mother did have trouble reaching some of the higher cupboards in the kitchen, noting that Vettori is a tall man, “and mum’s quite short!”
Nevertheless, the kitchen is Tracy’s favourite feature of the home. “The wooden floors are ideal for entertaining, and I often joke I’d take the kitchen with me if I could," she told OneRoof.
“We’ve hosted countless special occasions here, my daughter’s 21st, my 60th, my mother’s 90th, and spontaneous neighbour get-togethers. The flow of the house really brings people together.”

Annelyse remembers one particular party, where guests danced around the kitchen island. “The space is so big and fabulous.”
The excellent separation this property offers was another big attraction for Tracy, who made good use of the master suite downstairs, while her then teens were living mainly on the upper level.
“It was her special sanctuary,” Annelyse said.
The downstairs lounge opens fully onto the deck via sliding doors and includes a concealed Queen bed making it ideal for extra guests.
Tracy said that the property has abundant birdlife amongst the well-established trees, including tui, fantails, kererū (wood pigeon), and even the occasional rosella.

The neighbourhood has a friendly local vibe, and everybody looks out for each other. Tracy says that The Corner is their local bar, with a lively quiz night every Tuesday, and her children have worked at a number of great local eateries nearby.
Bayleys listing agent Carolyn Ryan said many thoughtful aspects combined to make 18B Mainston Road an appealing property. “It’s an absolute suntrap with decking on both levels and the sort of place that always feels like a private retreat. When you arrive home at the end of the day, the world melts away.”
Tracy said she was moving on now that her children had all left home, and daughter Annelyse said that it was a bittersweet moment. “We really did have such a good time here.”
