“Photos simply can’t do it justice to our amazing ever-changing views,” says the owner, who bought this spectacular brick veneer Orewa residence on an elevated oceanside 1409sqm site, with her husband, back in 2014.

The couple had always loved Orewa, and its easy access to safe sheltered beaches. “As soon as we saw this place, we felt we were home. The views just blew us away – and the general grandeur of it all.”

The owner remembers that the heated saltwater pool was another draw – plus the spa pool, covered decks, and well-established, easy-care, sub-tropical landscaping. The house had been constructed to a high standard by a builder, who then lived in it himself, so the couple knew they were buying quality.

They eventually added a putting green. “That was our lockdown project in 2020.”

The interior experience begins at the wide portico entrance with a wide hallway and three bedrooms – currently used as two bedrooms and a media room – all of which lead to covered decking. Also on this floor is a generous lounge, a smart contemporary family bathroom and separate laundry, along with a powder room.

The double garage has a large storage space at the rear and a man-cave hideaway, along with masses more storage, is located under the house next to the spa pool area.

“We’re absolutely spoilt here, with plenty of room for absolutely everything,” says the owner.

Upstairs – via stairs or the handy elevator, which is particularly useful for ferrying groceries, as well as for elderly visitors – the expansive living area opens to sheltered decking via bi-fold doors, and is always filled with light, thanks to the high ceilings and huge windows.

A new designer kitchen was installed two years ago, with all the bells and whistles, including granite benchtops, elegant joinery and luxury Bosch appliances. “This is the just the best place to entertain in, with so many different spaces,” she says.

Meanwhile, the master suite is situated in its own wing and includes a giant, fitted, walk-in wardrobe and a stylish bathroom.

“We’ve absolutely loved having the expansive covered decks on both levels for enjoying time with family and friends in all weathers,” says the owner, when asked what she’ll really miss.

“I find these spaces especially relaxing when it’s raining because the sound is soothing and calm and I feel very cosy and secure.”

She and her husband have used the two-bedroom, stand-alone, minor dwelling on their property as an Airbnb at times, but also for family when the need was there – giving everyone complete independence with their own bathroom, kitchen and living.

“This property is an opulent jewel in Orewa’s crown. It is truly a stunner – and so unique in all it offers. I don’t believe there is anything that’s comparable, locally, in terms of space and quality.”
