89A Torkar Road, Clarks Beach | By negotiation

This stylish and modern four-bedroom home celebrates direct access to Clarks Beach and savours completely unobstructed views of the sparkling harbour beyond. Interiors showcase a relaxed coastal vibe, and a clever floor plan makes it great for hosting guests.

The RV is $1.525m but Bayleys agent Michele Mathieson thinks it’ll go for around the $1.8m mark – a high price for many but a fraction of what you’d need to cough up in Waiheke or Omaha.

“You just walk down your lawn onto the sandy white beach – where can you buy something like that for the high ones?”

She says that Clarks Beach has become a haven for golfers and buyers who have fallen in love with the unique lifestyle.

“People have been coming out to play golf for years, and then they decide they want to retire out here, so they buy a waterfront property and a golf cart – the place is full of golf carts. It’s the central hub of the community.

“The yacht club sails the little optimist yachts every Sunday morning with the children, and it’s one of the best spots in New Zealand for windsurfing and kite surfing.”

1872 East Coast Road, Kaiaua | By negotiation

Ray White agents Westley Thomson and Geraldine Schnauer are selling this quintessential slice of Kiwi paradise, which has an RV of $940,000. It’s on the market for the first time in 50 years and has been the place of a lifetime. The 1113sqm absolute waterfront site is home to a 1970s two-bedroom home as well as a handy flexible studio.

Westley says this special spot is pure paradise. “You’re looking out over the Firth of Thames and have these gorgeous panoramic views. Dolphins and orca swim up there around September, and the fact that you can just walk out of your house, over the grass and go for a swim is really cool.”

She says the houses on this street are extremely tightly held. “These people originally had it as a bach, getting away from central Auckland for their weekends, and eventually moved there and have done so for the past 22 years.”

“It’s a special bit of coastline, we call it the ‘hidden coast’ because it’s still quite under the radar and there’s such a special feel to the area.”

In his listing, Scott Larsen from Harcourts says this is Huia at its absolute best.

“Launch the kayak from your front edge and paddle out across the bay. Drop a line from the shore or take the dinghy out for a fish and bring home dinner. Spend the day exploring the Waitakere Ranges bush tracks nearby, then finish with a drink on the deck as the tide rolls in and the sky changes colour over the water.”
