Bird’s-eye views, superior quality and a fantastic location perched on the Grey Lynn ridgeline have attracted buyers to a soon-to-be-completed apartment building designed by Paul Brown and Associates, with only a limited number of units left to sell.

Architect Paul Brown says: “The Grey is now in its final stages, scaffolding down and being completed by finishing trades.”

With completion scheduled for March, the penthouse and sub-penthouse have already sold in the 35-residence development but there are still some studios through to two-bedroom apartments available. Enquire today about the developer pre-completion incentives.

Paul says: “Our brief was to design an apartment building of very high quality which would appeal to owner-occupiers. This is the fifth apartment building we’ve designed along that stretch of Great North Road from Ponsonby Road to the Grey Lynn shops.

“It’s clear there’s an appetite for better quality owner-occupier apartment living in that part of the world, often from people who already have lived in the area.

“There are people who want more convenience than living in a villa with all of the ongoing maintenance that entails but still want to live in this area. And naturally people who are selling out of high-value villas in Ponsonby and Grey Lynn have expectations about the quality of environment they’ll move into, which you have to meet.

“People who are thinking about living there long-term are thinking carefully about the design values of the building and things such as storage, carparking, and good access to light and views from their apartment.”

The Grey is located on the ridgeline on the corner of Great North Road and Northland Street, with two road frontages and basement parking. It is being developed by Covington Group and built by CMP Construction.

“This site has got north and west aspects so it gets great afternoon sun and views out to the Waitakeres, the upper harbour of the Waitemata, as well as all the way around to the Manukau Heads. The north-facing apartments all have generous balconies; apartments which sit above the car-parking podium have large terraces and the ones looking onto Great North Road have wintergardens, in other words an internalised balcony.

“I think you’ll be hard pressed to get an apartment in a location as good as this.”

From here it’s under five minutes’ walk to Grey Lynn’s shops and cafes, with Ponsonby Road just over a kilometre away. The bold, five-storey, secure building is primarily constructed of concrete, accented by brick and powder-coated aluminium cladding.
