A piece of Golden Bay history

Built approximately 150 years ago, this distinctive two-storey colonial-style home has been the heart of the surrounding farm for generations. Now, following a recent subdivision, this much-loved homestead offers a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the charm of a country living without the responsibility of a large landholding. If these walls could talk, they would tell stories of families raised, happy gatherings shared, and countless memories made.

Now, it’s time for a new chapter, and new owners to add their own story to its rich history. Character meets modern comfort. The home retains many of its original features while benefiting from thoughtful improvements, including a fully renovated downstairs bathroom, a freshly painted upstairs bathroom, double glazing throughout most of the home, a new log fire, refreshed interior paintwork and new carpet.

Much of the hard work has already been done, leaving you free to settle in and make it your own. Downstairs, the spacious country kitchen features a traditional coal range that heats radiators throughout the home. The generous open-plan dining area flows onto the deck, creating an inviting space for family meals and entertainment. A separate lounge showcases beautiful original wood panelling and new log fire, while a bedroom, family bathroom and separate toilet complete the ground floor.

Up the quaint staircase, a charming landing provides extra flexibility – perhaps a children's play area, reading nook or quiet retreat. Three generously sized bedrooms, along with a bathroom and toilet, provide plenty of room for family and guests. Practicality hasn't been forgotten. A supersized laundry and wet room, additional storage room and double garage with automatic door add to the home's impressive functionality.

Space is certainly a feature here, both inside and out. Step outdoors and discover a garden designed for enjoying the good life. The in-ground swimming pool promises endless summer fun, perfectly positioned near the entertainment deck and living areas. A large, fenced vegetable garden, established trees, a fishpond and plenty of lawn provide room to grow, relax and let children and pets' roam.

With its own private entrance, the property offers a sense of independence and privacy while enjoying the benefits of its newly created lifestyle setting. Just a short drive from Takaka Village, with the school bus stopping outside, you're well placed to enjoy all that Golden Bay has to offer – from the welcoming local community to the region's spectacular beaches and outdoor adventures.

Love the country lifestyle, but not the workload of a large land area? If you're looking for a home with history, character, room to spread out and space for the whole family to enjoy, this special Golden Bay homestead deserves your attention.
