There’s something wonderfully appropriate about the philosophy behind 3 Beauchamp Place.

This is a bach in the truest sense of the word, a place created to escape to, slow down and enjoy everything that makes Lake Tekapo special. Constructed using straw bale, the one-bedroom retreat embraces a building philosophy centred around natural materials, substantial walls and a wonderful sense of warmth and shelter.

There’s an honesty and individuality to the design that feels perfectly at home in this remarkable alpine environment. And while the bach itself is deliberately understated, the land around it presents a compelling opportunity.

Set on a generous 1087sqm (more or less) site and zoned Low Density Residential, the property combines space and future potential with an enviable Tekapo location. The lakefront, the iconic Church of the Good Shepherd and the village centre are all within fantastic proximity, placing some of Tekapo’s most recognised landmarks and everyday conveniences close at hand.

Enjoy the bach exactly as it is, consider extending the existing concept, or investigate the potential for an additional dwelling on the site, subject to Mackenzie District Council consent and relevant planning requirements. Its distinctive straw bale construction, intimate scale and unmistakable sense of place could also lend itself beautifully to a novel and unique holiday rental, the kind of Tekapo stay that offers guests something genuinely different.

It creates an intriguing proposition, an authentic Tekapo retreat to enjoy today, with the character, location and landholding to open up a range of possibilities for tomorrow. 3 Beauchamp Place is about warmth, individuality, location and potential, a distinctive foothold in one of New Zealand’s most remarkable alpine destinations.
