Hidden away above the coast and accessed via a right of way through neighbouring farmland, this extraordinary 101-hectare (approximately 250-acre) bush block offers a rare opportunity to own your own private wilderness retreat. Just five minutes from the beach and a short drive from Opotiki, it's hard to believe a place this secluded can be so close to town.
Previously, a small portion of the property was utilised for forestry, while the majority remains a captivating mix of mature native bush and regenerating forest. Today, the forestry is gone, leaving behind accessible tracks, open spaces and a useful source of firewood from the harvested pine, making this an exceptional lifestyle or hobby block.
The original skid site has been cleared and provides an ideal base for an off-grid retreat, hunting headquarters or recreational getaway. Adding even more character is an original 1969 Bedford bus along with a separate caravan, providing additional accommodation for family, friends or weekend visitors.
While the views are impressive, it's beneath the canopy where this property truly comes alive. Towering puriri and magnificent rimu stand amongst groves of nikau palms and regenerating native bush, while hidden streams, small waterfalls, native birdlife, deer and pigs add to the sense of wilderness and adventure.
There is something about this bush that is difficult to describe until you're standing in it. Once under the canopy, the outside world fades away. The combination of mature native forest, complete privacy and an overwhelming connection to nature creates an experience few properties can offer.
Whether you're looking for a bush block, an off-grid escape, a recreational playground, a unique hobby block or simply a place to reconnect with nature, this remarkable property offers an opportunity that is becoming increasingly difficult to find.
