Coatesville has seen its biggest real estate deal since the $32.5 million purchase of the former “Dotcom” mansion ten years ago.

OneRoof understands that a foreign buyer bought a sprawling eight-bedroom, eight-bathroom trophy home on Goldflats Lane, in Auckland's wealthy lifestyle enclave, for close to $18m.
Precision agent Nicky White told OneRoof: “It’s certainly one of the higher sales in Coatesville for a while.”
The 1450sqm house, which sits on a 4.27ha landscaped estate, comes with a walk-in wine cellar, a gym, a tennis court, a movie room, and a 25m heated swimming pool, one of the biggest in the suburb.
The nanny quarters have their own garage with internal access and boast a luxury finish. “I don’t think there would be too many nannies baulking at it, put it that way,” White told OneRoof.

The agent declined to reveal her buyer's nationality but told OneRoof she was dealing with people from all over the world - “all sorts of interesting places.”
She said her buyers were drawn to Coatesville because it was close to the city but also offered privacy. They had also been looking for the right place for some time.
“Most of these people, before they walk inside they focus on the land and what the land has to offer. These people walked around the land more than they focused on the house. They actually do appreciate the beauty of the environment that they are choosing to live in,” she said.
A big sale like this, she said, would have flow-on effects. “The people they employ to help them with these properties and the money they spend on the community - these are real positives.”

She said many of her buyers wanted to enjoy the experience of growing things, "rather than being in Remuera".
White’s Goldflats Lane deal comes hot on the heels of another big Coatesville sale. Last week, OneRoof reported that a foreign buyer with a golden visa snapped up a reality TV mansion for over $11m.
The sprawling six-bedroom home, on Mahoenui Valley Road, had been pitched as the “ultimate luxury country lodge” and has a tennis court, wellness centre and a hidden panic room.

It was previously the home of reality TV star Michelle Blanchard and her husband, David, and even featured in episodes of the Real Housewives of Auckland.
New Zealand Sotheby’s International Realty listing agent Natalie Newton told OneRoof her buyer was from overseas and was incredibly private.
“The buyers [who looked at the home] were from the US, China, Europe, Australia and Canada, so she’s from that group.”
White sold another Coatesville mansion to international buyers at the end of last year for over $9m. The new build on Robinson Road had been constructed to a high standard and was filled with high-spec fittings and fixtures.
Buyers, though, have plenty of high-end options in the suburb. White pointed to 4 Lewis Lane, a “magnificent” estate with a $11m price indication.
The French country-style five-bedroom, five-bathroom property has "elevated views across the countryside", White said. "Very central Coatesville."

186 Glenmore Road, which is in the circa $10m range, was built by expats who returned from overseas to raise their youngest children in New Zealand.
“They searched for over two years to find the perfect plot with elevated 360-degree views, and then they built this incredible masonry home with a separate minor dwelling," White said. “It's well in excess of 700sqm."
White said because the owners had been so hands-on, the homes were a cut above typical spec homes. “Anything available on a spec basis just doesn't compare. When people build, they put in special features and really spend the money to get things exactly how they want. They are pretty special homes inside and out.”
The Glenmore Road property comes with a golf simulator, as does another of White's listings, 945 Kahikatea Flat Road, in nearby Waitoki
The turnkey home was available fully furnished. “Everything you see in the videos and so forth, right down to the machinery and tools in the shed, the bar set up and everything. You can literally walk in, and they will give you the keys for $8m, which is just ridiculous.”
Waitoki was gaining popularity, White said. “It's like Coatesville not that long ago, and it's heading in a similar direction.”
