Having relocated to the Bay of Islands in 2007 after years of holidaying in the Far North, Barb and her husband, Paul, successfully operated an award-winning bed and breakfast. They have two children, six grandchildren, and have recently welcomed two extra 'gandies' into their family.

Beyond her professional endeavours, Barb is deeply engaged in her community. Her involvement as a swimming coach and referee, sparked by her children’s participation, has evolved into nearly three decades of dedicated service to Special Olympics - an organization she is truly passionate about. She is also a member of Rotary and tries to play Pickleball.
