As one of Auckland’s oldest established suburbs – second only to Remuera, Mt Albert’s history, geography and cultural frame-work has had a significant influence of the city and her surrounding suburbs.

Approximately seven kilometres from Auckland’s city centre, Mt Albert and her surrounds Sandringham, Owairaka, Avondale and Point Chevalier form a network filled to the brim with desirable schooling options, amenities, outdoor facilities and public transport preferred by families, young professionals and inner-city workers.

With development spread around its namesake – the extinct volcanic peak Mount Albert which measures 135 metres in height, the lifestyle in the area is community-minded and hobby-based with sporting clubs of almost every persuasion nearby including an aquatic centre, archery, the Chamberlain Park golf club, lawn bowls, tennis, football, croquet, rugby league, football, squash and bridge.

Originally settled by prosperous farming families in the 1800’s, residential development in Mt Albert flourished following the end of World War One, and while this period characterised an extended phase of growth for the city’s central isthmus areas, Mt Albert has gone on to become one of Auckland’s fastest-growing suburbs.
