The five-bedroom luxury pad at 12 Grand Ridge Avenue, in Flat Bush, is heading to auction next month with an orange sports car worth over $300,000.

Owner Yousef Mansour told OneRoof that the house he and his wife built in 2024 was better suited for professionals or older families than one with a small baby.

Same with his 2021 Lamborghini Huracan EVO RWD.

“We are expecting our first baby shortly, and we have realised that the house is not very baby-friendly nor is the car, so we have decided to trade in that particular lifestyle.”

The couple were still child-free when Mansour traded up to the Lambo last year. “We knew we were going to try for a baby and I said, ‘Well I’m going to have the car because soon I won’t be having the car’, so I decided to get it out of my system.”

His wife, who drives a far more practical Skoda, was really happy the flash car was included in the sale, he joked. As for the “Dad car”, he hasn’t decided what he’s going to get yet.

Mansour had managed the couple’s build and saw the project as an opportunity to create a standout home. “It’s probably the nicest one in the subdivision,” he said.

He chose high-end Buster + Punch fixtures and opted for a black-and-white colour scheme to create a sense of unity and flow. “I think indoor-outdoor flow is very important. And proportions too. If you are going to have a big lounge, you are going to need an 8m kitchen as well.”

The house, which has an inground pool, was perfect for entertaining guests, he said. “I’m definitely going to miss the parties. The parties get lit.”

When asked whether the reserve would be higher to include the cost of the car, he said: “I think the reserve is going to be what the house is worth and that’s the beauty of it. Obviously, what it cost to build – what it owes us – isn’t going to be what the reserve is, but it will be what the house is worth. We don’t lose any money, but someone gets a free Lamborghini for a house that’s worth what they paid.”

Ray White agent James McGregor said it was a good option for people who wanted to be in a similar location to the $3m-plus lifestyle properties in neighbouring suburbs.

There were more than 340 properties in Flat Bush listed on OneRoof at the time of writing, including 127 with five or more bedrooms, so the hope is that including the Lamborghini in the sale will help the property stand out.

In 2022, a property listing in Flat Bush went viral after the developer decided to throw in a sparkly new Tesla to whoever bought the brand-new home.

The aim had been to make the seven-bedroom home stand out in the swamped South-East Auckland new-build market. It worked, with the agent reporting that he had been flooded with inquiries. The home sold within a month, although the South Auckland family who bought it ended up turning down the car in favour of a slight price reduction.
